Coaching Philosophy
As for my coaching philosophy, I hold all the players accountable for their actions, both on and off the court. I want to help boys become men and make the best of their situations. With my past playing and coaching experience, I try to provide the players with the knowledge and thought process to make smart decisions in their every day lives, not just basketball. I strongly believe in the importance of core fundamentals and make it a high priority that all my teams are fundamentally sound. My teams always play a fast paced, up-tempo style of play with with multiple trapping defensive schemes. I try to be more than a coach that can teach the X's and O's, and also teach lifelong lessons about how to be successful in life.

- Coach Shawn brings valuable basketball experience as a collegiate player and well respected high school coach. As the head varsity basketball coach at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (SOCES), Coach Shawn understands the importance of developing character, discipline, and hard work both on and off the court. His teams always compete at the highest levels and are always in the hunt for league honors, although many of his teams do not possess the physical dominant attributes seen in many other basketball powerhouse programs. As an elite point guard in high school and in college, Coach's Shawn has been able to transfer his deep knowledge and understanding of the position to many of his current and previous players. Coach Shawn is also a lead skills trainer, teaching advanced skills and techniques to elite middle and high school athletes.
